AbstractFor students and general readers in grades nine and up, this book examines the debate surrounding stem cell research. Newton, a former math and science professor, provides an overview of the subject, background on stem cell science, and discussions of issues in the US and the law and how it relates to research, including legal decisions, followed by a chronology and brief biographies of key figures. The second section of the volume consists of a guide to researching the topic, and contains an annotated bibliography and list of organizations and agencies. Key documents, such as legal cases and policy issue recommendations, are included in the appendices.
